Competitions Held in Central League

1. Standard Time Control Leagues

We currently have 2 Divisions that feature a double round robin system. Each team plays every other team home and away in a 5 board format. The away team has white on 3 boards and black on 2 boards. The colours are drawn on the night and the time control is 75 minutes for all moves.

2. Allegro Leagues

We currently have 1 Division and each team plays each other in a single round robin format. Each team has 4 players (containing no more than 2 first team nominees) and during the night they will face the each player in the opposing team with team colours alternating on each round. The time control is 15 minutes for all moves.

3. Knockout Competitions

All teams can compete for the 7 Board KO and U1500 cups. At the start of the season pairings will be drawn with the winner of each match proceeding to the next round. The away team has white on odd boards and black on even boards. The time control is 60 minutes + 15 seconds increment per move.

4. Online Competitions

Stirling University Chess Club hosts a weekly allegro competition on Lichess.org where all Central League players are welcome to participate. The time control is 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move
